1Q. What is 'CastCon NYC?
A. 'CastCon NYC is a two-part Podcasting Retreat in the City. The first day, Friday, attendees can sign up for 'CastShop NYC to learn how to get their podcast started. Then, Friday night, everyone will come together for a special, NYC-centric retreat activity. So then on Saturday, attendees will gather again for learning, motivation, networking, and rejuvenation. It is produced by Lee Uehara, Danielle Desir, and Beatriz Reynoso, female podcasters who want to create an affordable - and lower barrier to podcasting retreats.
2Q. For 'CastShop NYC, do I need to have some idea of what type of podcast I want to create?
A. Great question! Those who will benefit most are participants who know that they want to create a podcast and have a general idea of their message they want to share with the world. However, if you only "think" you want to create a podcast, you'll gain insight into what it takes to produce your own show.
3Q. What do I need to bring with me?
A. IF you attend 'CastShop NYC, you'll need your laptop and power cord, a notebook and pen. If you have a digital recorder, headphones and a microphone, bring those, too. We will be working with Adobe Audition and GarageBand. Make sure you have one of these programs already installed on your computer. If you have more questions, feel free to email us!
IF you are attending only 'CastCon NYC, then just yourself, note-taking and self-promotional materials, and your smile.
4Q. Seriously?! Coffee and a light lunch are included?!
A. Yes! We want to provide quality instruction with a lower barrier to entry.
5Q. What about transportation?
A. Transportation:
It’s really easy to reach via MTA. Take the B or C to West 72nd Street Station and walk west one block and then walk five blocks south on Columbus. You can also take the 1,2,3 trains to West 72nd Street station and then walk east.
6Q. Where can I park my car?
A. For parking, there are several garages. You can also try your luck with street parking. Please call Lee directly to discuss in detail.
7Q. What's the room like? Do I need a sweater?
A. Yes, bring an extra layer just in case!
